The GreenLane Diet

 

Greenlane Hospital is a specialist heart surgery hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. The Greenlane diet has travelled around the world by word of mouth. Its origins are as a quick weight loss diet for very obese subjects needing urgent heart surgery. Well that is the story and it rings true. Morbidly obese people are at much greater risk in surgery and a quick strict diet to get rid of a few pounds in a hurry is reasonable. But the Greenlane diet is not meant as a crash diet for ordinary healthy folk who are not about to go under the surgeons knife. I haven't rung them to check whether this is their diet though.

One of my friends introduced me to this diet which she goes on once a year to lose accumulated weight- she says it works really well and she finds it relatively easy to do. She gave me the version she uses and it is lot different from the ones I have seen spearing on various message boards. It is said to be a 3 day diet where you can lose 10 pounds. The Greenlane diet is not a 3 day diet, it s a 4 week diet, and there is no promise that you will lose 10lbs. Those bits have been added, though my friend tells me she drop about 5kg (11lbs). It isn't hard to stick to because the strict part is only for 3 days after which you can eat normally.

 

This is the Greenlane Diet

 

Greenlane Diet Day 1

Breakfast

Lunch

Dinner

1 grapefruit

1/3 cup of Tuna

2 slices of meat (any) 3oz

1 piece of toast with

1 piece of  toast

1 cup chopped beetroot

2 teaspoons peanut butter

water, tea or coffee no milk

1 cup green beans

water, tea or coffee no milk

 

1 small apple

 

 

1 cup Weight Watchers ice-cream

 

 

water, tea or coffee no milk

Greenlane Diet Day 2

Breakfast

Lunch

Dinner

1 egg poached

1 cup cottage cheese

2 frankfurters

1 piece toast

5  Ritz crackers

1 cup of broccoli

½  banana

 

tea or coffee no milk

½  cup carrots

tea or coffee no milk

 

½  banana

 

 

½  cup weight watchers ice-cream

 

 

tea or coffee no milk

Greenlane Diet Day 3

Breakfast

Lunch

Dinner

5 Ritz crackers

1 boiled egg

1 cup of tuna in brine

1 slice cheddar cheese

1 piece of dry toast

1 cup of beetroot

1 small apple

black coffee/tea or water

1 cup of cauliflower

Greenlane Diet Days 4 to 7

Eat normally but do not over eat. Repeat this week's plan to make a total of 4 weeks. You should have lost quite a few pounds by the end of the month. Now you don't need me to tell you not to stay on it more than one month do you?
