Today we are surrounded by eating opportunities almost 24 hours a day. No longer do we eat only home cooked food around a table at meal times. Now there are snacks available where-ever we may go. Every office has a snack machine full of chocolate bars, chips and soft drinks. How can we resist this at 4.00 pm after a hectic day?  When we shop we have no option but to stand close to the candy and if we shop when hungry or frazzled, as we often are, the temptation is hard to resist. As well many people almost never eat at home these days and when they do the meal often consists of bought items simply assembled, or its a take away delivered to the door. The so called liberation of women has meant that there is no-one with the time or energy to cook a healthy meal each day. So do not blame yourself!

Another problem is that because many of us are always on a weight loss quest we sometimes eat too little. This approach almost always results, sooner or later in an episode of overeating. If we want to lose body fat starving is never the answer.
